To create better homes, we need to know the challenges people are facing in their everyday lives. Every year, we ask tens of thousands of people to share their thoughts and feelings about the place they live in to create the Life at Home Report, a study that helps us get a little bit closer to understanding what people need from their home.

Democratic Design is our approach for designing, developing and evaluating IKEA home furnishing products to ensure that they integrate good function, beautiful form and long-lasting quality, while also securing sustainability and low prices.
Making home a safer place
We believe everyone has the right to feel safe at home. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. Every year, too many people get injured in their own homes. That’s why we want to do what we can to change that – and make home a safer place for everyone.
Product safety
Our entire business, from designers and suppliers to the co-workers in the stores, works towards creating a safer life at home for our customers. Our products are tested and verified in a very careful way. You can trust that before they are launched, every product complies with the relevant laws and standards in the market where it’s being sold – plus with our own requirements, that are often tougher than those imposed by authorities.
